Another fire prevention week is in the books for Rescue Fire Company. This year we were able to spread the word of fire safety to schools and daycare’s in our area, we finished the week with our annual fire prevention night where kids and adults were able to “Touch a Truck”.

Throughout fire prevention week members were able to visit 3 public elementary schools, 2 private schools, and 2 daycare’s. In total we were able to spread the word of fire safety to about 760 kids, not including all the kids at our “Touch a Truck” event.

The focus this year was kitchen fires, which are the leading cause of house fires in the United States. In 2021, 31% of kitchen fires were caused by unattended cooking. It is important to pay attention while cooking, in addition make sure your smoke detectors are in proper working order, your family should also have a evacuation plan to get out of your house safely and in that plan have a place you all can meet after you evacuate.

If you’re in need of smoke detectors visit the “requests” tab on our website, there you can request smoke detectors.
