The Dorchester County Volunteer Fireman's Association hosted a "Water Shuttle Drill" this morning with 10 companies sending 4members & equipment. The volunteers came together to practice and learn techniques for moving big water in the non-hydrant environment. This drill gave the volunteers the opportunity to set up a fire scene and witness the challenges in moving big water in this rural setting . With more than 50% of the county being non-hydrant and volunteer membership dwindling the companies must be proficient in the art of working together. The volunteers practiced and learned from each other today in a controlled environment to help be ready for a fire in an uncontrolled environment. (Breakfast was provided via Church Creek VFD, & Lunch was provided via Taylors Island VFD)
