| Shortly after 5pm volunteers from Rescue Fire Company and mutual-aid units were dispatched to a reported apartment fire in the area of Crusader rd.. Dispatch advised that the fire was located on a porch and may have been started by a battery powered scooter.
Responding units observed a column of smoke and requested working fire taskforce. Chief 1-1 arrived and reported fire showing from a first-floor apartment and the second-floor porch above it. Engine 1-3 arrived and quickly deployed handlines to the involved apartment, initiating an aggressive fire attack.
Tower 1-1 crew laddered the building and conducted primary searches in the adjacent apartments, confirming no occupants were trapped. Additional arriving units assisted with securing a second water source, ventilation, and overhaul operations.
Some fire extension was found in the apartment above the origin, the fire was brought under control without injuries. The Red Cross was contacted to assist displaced residents from the affected apartments.
