January 26, 2024

Just after 10:25am RFC was alerted for a structure fire with possible entrapment on Silver Goose road, the initial report was that the house was on fire and people on scene were trying to get everyone out of the structure.

Two(2) crews happened to be in the station at the time of the incident, Engine 1-3 and Tower 1-1 quickly responded with a total staffing of 8 members. First arriving unit from DCEMS advised that fire was showing through the roof and everyone had evacuated the building.

Engine 1-3 and Tower 1-1 arrived and began placing hand lines in service and getting ladders in place for ventilation/evac. Chief 1-2 arrived and established command, while the crew from Engine 1-3 was interior making a push on the fire, conditions did not improve. At the time there was a limited amount of water on scene(non-hydrant area), the crew had to evacuate the structure for a few minutes to regroup. Crews returned to work after the evacuation and continued to make progress on the fire.

Other RFC units on the call were Engine 1-2, Engine 1-4, Rescue-Engine 1-1, and Brush 1-1. Multiple mutual aid departments were dispatched to assist, some were used as stand-by’s to cover other areas of the county and others were sent to the scene to assist in operations. Units on scene operated for about 3 hours.

A total of two(2) subjects were transported to local hospitals for evaluation.
